Is your transformation journey award-worthy? With the call for papers open for BIAN’s Transformation Awards, we’ve interviewed two of last year’s winners to share their insights into the process and what came next…
Our first chat was with Alejandro Pelaez from CaixaBank, crowned Overall Winner 2024 for the Best Use of Innovative Technology. Reflecting on the experience, Pelaez recalled that it was ‘both enriching and inspiring’, allowing them to ‘engage with industry leaders, and exchange valuable information with peers.’
Summarising their award journey, Pelaez said that ‘it marked a milestone, confirming the soundness of our strategy in using a domain driven approach to the IT application landscape.’ And the value takeaway? It ‘prompted [them] to validate, justify, and articulate the modernization strategy we reimplementing. It proved to be a valuable exercise in consolidating our domain-based strategic vision.’
Next, we spoke to Nishan Jebanasam from CC&C Solutions , which won the Best-in-Class Partners Award 2024 for their work in refreshing the enterprise architecture strategy of a major European bank. Jebanasam found the process to be ‘well-structured, transparent, and focused on real outcomes’, providing a valuable opportunity for CC&C Solutions to ‘benchmark their progress against industry leaders’ while ‘reflect[ing] on the impact of our work’. It was a learning opportunity too, with the company taking away ‘rich insights into how different organizations are applying BIAN to unlock innovation and accelerate modernization’.
In the time since, Jebanasam has found that the awards ‘significantly elevated our global profile, reinforced our leadership in BIAN-enabled transformation, and strengthened trust with our clients, partners, and the broader banking community’. Continuing to drive the transformation effort, CC&C Solutions has bolstered efforts to ‘help several banks operationalize BIAN through hands-on SME expertise and training programs’.
In summary, the company found that the awards provided a ‘recognition of [their] deep commitment to helping banks simplify, modernize, and future-proof their architecture through the power of BIAN’.
The call for papers is now open for The BIAN Transformation Awards 2025, with projects able to be submitted until October 17, 2025, free of charge.
